Wardray Premise Ltd was delighted to work with James Fisher NDT (JF NDT) on their state of the art facility at Deeside Industrial Park, Flintshire. JF NDT work across a wide base of industry sectors specialising in safety critical components and that demands the very highest in quality standards. Their services includes the full spectrum of conventional NDT techniques such as radiographic ultrasonic, eddy current, penetrant and magnetic particle testing to more specialised methods such as Time of Flight diffraction, high resolution ultrasonic imaging and digital radiography.
JF NDT facility offers a primary hub for digital radiography with more than 2,400 square metres of space. Their plan is to have an impressive 16 fully operational x-ray bays by the end of 2016 supporting growth and employment in the area.
Wardray’s involvement was to design, manufacture, install and commission, four freestanding self-supporting enclosures, two accommodating 160kV x-ray units and two with 320kV units. The remit being to restrict radiation levels to the external surfaces of the walls and doors to a maximum of 1 µSv/hour.
The openings to each room were fitted with power operated lead shielded sliding doors, complete with all necessary interlocks and safety systems.
Exposed internal and external faces of walls, ceilings and doors were lined with white laminate ‘wipe clean’ boards.
Wardray’s site installation was completed ahead of their original schedule.
